We were recently contacted to conduct a general pest control inspection at a home in Babylon, on the south shore of Long Island. The homeowner had complained of ant activity in several rooms of their house including the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms. During the warm summer months, ants begin their search for food and it is very common to see them make their way from their outside colony to indoor locations. A licensed exterminator was dispatched to conduct a visual inspection. The inspection was conducted on both the outside perimeters of the home as well as in the areas where the homeowner had saw activity. The technician confirmed dirt and other particles present on the interior of the home which indicates ants have been present. On the exterior of the home, ant hills were also visible all around the home and under the deck. Ant colonies are typically located outside the home but oftentimes, can be found in the pulp of wood. They do not eat the wood unlike termites but use the wood to create channels to accommodate their needs.
To correct and treat this issue, we applied a heavy application of chemical free spray as well as placed granular bait to the infestation areas. Typically, when ants are observed in multiple areas of the home, it is highly suggested that a preventative treatment control program be implemented to eliminate the multiple ant colonies. Preventative treatments can be applied monthly, for the heavy infestation situations or every 3-4 months, 2 times per year or even yearly for the lighter infestations. Our preventative treatment programs guarantee that you’ll remain pest free or we’ll return to the site free of charge to re-treat the condition.
Our ant treatment control programs are normally chemical-free which renders our programs safe for your children and pets. Use of certain types of bait stations and/or spray applications are only allowed by licensed technicians. You should consult with a pest control company before applying any type of application or bait station in or around your home. With more serious situations, additional and stronger applications may be applied.
